Agnihothra

I heard about Agnihothra few months back in an ayurvedic exhibition at Madurai. One middle aged enthusiatic person was showcasing an inverted copper pyramid and explained about the agnihothra in a stall. I thought it to be some black magic technique and just walked around the stall. I was surprised to see various incidents, experiments and happenings with Agnihothra that was posted on the walls. Many doctors have researched about this and recommended this as a good therapy. Many reasearchers have experimented and have wrote papers on its power on agriculture and environment... Wow... what is it all about? Is that all true and can I see anything practically? With these Questions, I showed interest to the middle aged person. He actively and precisely presented about the Agnihothra.

Agnihothra is a simple homam. It has its roots in Vedas (perticularly in Atharvana and Rig Veda). This is not specific to a religion. This is to worship Agni with some simple offerings and mandras during sun-rise and sun-set time. The process is simple
a) Take an inverted copper prism and place some cow-dung cakes in it
b) Light it with camphor and put some ghee and raw rice exactly during sun-rise and sun-set time
c) Chant two line sanskrit mantra during this time.

This homa purifies the atmosphere and produces enormous positive energy from the pyramid. Recently I did this in my home along with SEVA president. It was a wonderful experience and I was able to feel the difference...
